The group stage of fnatic PLAY league 2012 finished today after two postponed matches of ESC Gaming were finally played. The Polish powerhouse somehow managed to secure a spot in the playoffs, where they will meet fnatic, while eSrael and SK Gaming go through as group winners.
Group A's playoff positions were left undecided until the very last match, as ESC Gaming still had a chance to reach one of the top three spots.
However, they suffered a heavy 16-3 loss to the new WinFakt squad on de_dust2, which put their playoff hopes in doubt.
But after that, they faced eSrael in a must-win situation and turned around a 5-10 deficit to win the match 16-12 on de_train, which secured them the 3rd spot of the group, knocking out Alternate from the competition.
Despite that loss, eSrael ended up at the top of the group due to defeating WinFakt head-to-head and they will move on directly to the semi-finals.
